Software Engineer – Cloud, DevEx

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Manage high-complexity delivery and tooling projects from inception to production, frequently as the sole engineer.

• Facilitate design discussions regarding build, test, and deployment systems; create architecture documents or RFCs.

• Take full ownership of CI/CD pipelines, overseeing the transition from Jenkins to GitHub Actions, enhancing performance, introducing automation, caching, ensuring repeatable releases, and establishing rollback procedures.

• Handle developer environments and internal tools, focusing on local setup, standardized configurations, CLIs, and scripts.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to pinpoint and resolve workflow challenges.

• Integrate AI into development processes for tasks such as code review, testing, refactoring, and internal search functionality.

• Lead incident response efforts for the delivery toolchain and manage post-mortem follow-ups.

• Evaluate build times, deployment frequency, and developer onboarding duration pre- and post-implementation of changes.

• Plan and coordinate cross-team rollouts, manage dependencies, negotiate project scope, oversee migrations, and produce documentation and runbooks.

• Provide mentorship to engineers regarding tooling, testing, and delivery methodologies through code reviews, collaborative work, and design insights.

• Oversee the methods by which Traackr engineers construct, test, and deploy CI/CD pipelines, delivery infrastructure, developer environments, and test automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree, with hands-on involvement in developer experience, CI/CD, build or release engineering, platform automation, or developer tooling.

• Proven experience in building and deploying application software, not limited to platform work, with a history of enabling product teams to accelerate without compromising quality.

• We value a diverse skill set more than an exact match on technology stacks; experience across the development lifecycle and the ability to rapidly learn new tools are essential.

• Proficient in at least one production programming language (Node, Python, Kotlin, or similar), with the capability to write and review automation and test code that meets product standards.

• Extensive experience with CI platforms (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions), Git platforms (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket), and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Helm).

• Familiarity with containerization and Kubernetes-based deployments (EKS), sufficient to troubleshoot build or deployment issues.

• Proven ability to enhance the speed and reliability of pipelines or test suites, with quantifiable improvements in build and test times, caching efficiency, and reduction of flakiness.

• Experienced with contemporary testing tools and API and contract testing methodologies.

• Capability to lead technical designs across team boundaries, from initial proposal through migration or deprecation phases.

• Comfortable utilizing AI tools like Claude in everyday engineering tasks, with discernment regarding security, data management, and validation of outputs.

• Capable of engaging with another team's codebase and processes, earning trust, and facilitating improvements without assuming control.

• Excellent written communication skills and a service-oriented mindset; producing documentation and clear proposals is integral to the role.
