Software Engineer – Clients and Drivers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Engage in the entire software development lifecycle, encompassing inception, design, development, testing, and deployment.

• Actively participate in open source software initiatives, particularly contributing to Apache Arrow projects.

• Take part in code and design reviews to ensure outstanding quality while enhancing understanding of system architecture and implementation.

• Collaborate with program managers, support teams, architects, and others regarding new feature requests and updates to existing designs.

• Assist in team growth through recruiting, mentoring, and establishing best practices.

• Interact directly with customers and client-tool partners, including Tableau and Power BI.

• Develop core experiences on the Dremio stack as part of a highly skilled technical team.

• Contribute to Dremio’s vision of creating an autonomous data platform for analytics and AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

• Proficiency in Java, C++, or another modern programming language.

• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, multi-threaded and asynchronous patterns, and their applications in developing scalable systems.

• A commitment to quality, zero downtime upgrades, availability, resiliency, and platform uptime.

• Experience in developing scalable distributed systems and managing the deployment, scaling, and administration of microservices.

• Bonus: Experience with JDBC, ODBC, ADBC, or other database driver/protocols.

• Bonus: Familiarity with Apache Arrow.

• Bonus: Working knowledge of SQL.

• Bonus: Practical experience with databases, distributed systems, and highly available services.

• Bonus: Experience in client-side libraries/applications.

• Bonus: Contributions to open source projects.
