Software Engineer, C - Codebase Q&A

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Choose tasks from a curated selection of C repositories associated with specific git commits.

• Investigate repositories along with pertinent pull request or issue histories to gain insights into subsystems.

• Reformulate task questions to pose challenges to advanced coding agents while ensuring clarity and definition.

• Modify rubrics and distractors to encourage correct reasoning and dismiss plausible yet incorrect responses.

• Execute the complete Studio validation cycle: Check, Golden, Run, Analyze.

• Record work in task READMEs and submit tasks for expert evaluation.

• Respond to feedback from reviewers on submitted tasks.

• Create codebase-exploration tasks for reinforcement-learning settings that train AI agents to reason about unfamiliar software repositories.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional software engineering experience with significant production in C.

• Proficiency in navigating large, unfamiliar C codebases and articulating runtime behavior.

• Comfortable with preprocessor-intensive builds, platform conditionals, manual memory management, and autotools/CMake/Meson build configurations.

• Experience in databases, cryptography, networking protocols, or systems programming is highly relevant.

• Skilled in the use of debuggers, sanitizers, tracing, and profiling tools.

• Excellent written English skills.

• Completion of identity verification, background checks, signing of Terms of Work and CIIAA, tax forms, and passing a calibration quiz are prerequisites for task access.

• Suitable candidates may be requested to undertake a technical assessment or provide further information.
