Software Engineer – Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the modeling engine, encompassing transfer tax calculations, waterfall and distribution modeling, as well as consolidation tasks.

• Model trusts and estates with flexibility and consideration through intricate data modeling.

• Collaborate with JDs and CPAs to verify calculations in accordance with practitioner methodologies.

• Explore complex interactions within the tax code alongside state attorneys general.

• Provide a deterministic computation layer and hypothetical modeling functionalities via tools for extraction and agentic workflows.

• Deliver small, reviewable updates to production multiple times daily through continuous integration.

• Engage with customers to comprehend their needs and influence product requirements.

• Work in partnership with the CEO, Head of Engineering, Head of Product, and internal subject matter experts.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of four years of software engineering experience at organizations with robust engineering practices.

• Preference for dealing with domain complexity and modeling intricate real-world systems.

• A meticulous approach to correctness, edge cases, and verifiable logic.

• A product-focused mindset when shaping requirements and understanding business implications.

• Backend proficiency with Go, Postgres, Temporal, and GraphQL.

• Relevant experience with Honeycomb, Braintrust, and PostHog as part of the monitoring stack.

• Strong communication skills within a partially remote team environment.

• Openness and capability to learn about the wealth-transfer domain from JDs and CPAs.
