Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Develop end-to-end full-stack software, emphasizing front-end development.

• Address compelling, large-scale backend technical challenges.

• Enhance engineering practices while identifying opportunities for innovation and optimization.

• Collaborate with the Product Owner and stakeholders to understand customer needs and deliver innovative, robust solutions.

• Provide operational support to customers when escalated by the Client Services team.

• Construct and maintain backend infrastructure for a large-scale hosting service.

• Frequently and iteratively deliver high-quality software utilizing Agile principles.

• Take responsibility for the team’s contributions to the xneelo ecosystem.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in full-stack development with a strong emphasis on front-end technologies.

• Proficient in backend software and API design and development.

• Skilled in front-end development using frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.

• Knowledge of object-oriented programming in languages like Ruby.

• Experience in software development within Linux/Unix environments.

• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.

• Adherence to Agile development practices, including automated testing, refactoring, continuous integration, and pair programming.

• Strong communication skills.

• Self-motivated and capable of self-management.

• A passion for programming, open-source technologies, and IT.

• A BSc in Computer Science is advantageous, but a proven track record in backend software development is ultimately more significant.

• At least 4+ years of software development experience.

• Minimum of 2 years supporting a large-scale application in an operational capacity.

• Experience in security-focused development is a plus.

• Familiarity with Rancher, Docker Swarm, or other container orchestration platforms is advantageous.

• Experience in database design and performance tuning with MySQL, Redis, or similar technologies is a plus.

• DevOps experience on a Linux-based platform is advantageous.

• System administration experience on a Linux-based platform is beneficial.
