Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deliver features throughout the Accolade platform from start to finish.

• Write, review, and deploy high-quality, thoroughly tested production code.

• Conduct code reviews and execute pragmatic refactoring.

• Build and sustain containerized services while contributing to deployment pipelines.

• Implement security, observability, and resilience practices.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across the entire stack.

• Assess and responsibly integrate emerging technologies, particularly AI and agentic systems.

• Establish AI-first development methodologies across coding, testing, documentation, design, and debugging.

• Design and develop developer-oriented agents and reusable skills.

• Shape prompting, agent chaining, and evaluation methodologies.

• Share insights from AI development through documentation, examples, and demonstrations.

• Integrate safe and reliable agentic capabilities into the Accolade product.

• Collaborate with Product and Design teams on AI opportunities, feasibility assessments, risk evaluations, and prototypes.

• Decompose complex challenges into manageable deliverable tasks and assist in backlog maintenance.

• Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and retrospective meetings.

• Work alongside Product, Design, QA, and DevOps teams.

• Mentor engineers in cloud-native patterns, system design, and AI-first methodologies.

• Contribute to the engineering culture, metrics, and enhancements in software development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical knowledge of AI-assisted development tools, including their strengths, weaknesses, and appropriate usage limits.

• Experience in constructing and orchestrating agents, including agent loops, context and memory management, multi-step pipelines, and graceful failure handling.

• Capability to define reusable skills with clear interfaces and predictable behaviors.

• Skills in prompt engineering, including structured prompting, output validation, and iterative refinement.

• Experience in evaluating agent behaviors and constructing evaluations.

• Ability to discern appropriate and inappropriate areas for workflow automation or AI assistance.

• Strong proficiency in containerization and orchestration techniques.

• Familiarity with major cloud platforms and managed services.

• Experience with infrastructure as code methodologies.

• Background in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

• Practical experience in distributed systems, including service communication, event-driven patterns, observability, and fault tolerance.

• Expertise in C#/.NET, encompassing platform internals, asynchronous programming, and performance optimization.

• Experience in designing and implementing APIs using ASP.NET Core, REST, versioning, and middleware.

• Knowledge of relational database design, ORM utilization, and T-SQL query optimization.

• Front-end development experience with React and TypeScript.

• Proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.

• Skills in performance profiling across server and client layers.

• Comprehensive understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing practices.

• Knowledge of security fundamentals, secure coding practices, secrets management, and common vulnerability categories.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capacity to articulate technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to thrive in a highly agile environment and adapt to evolving priorities.
