Network Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design the backbone and Point of Presence (PoP) architecture as standardized and repeatable building blocks.

• Promote the adoption of Segment Routing and a streamlined IP architecture that encompasses IPv4 reuse, IPv6, and the coexistence of customer/internal address spaces.

• Construct and manage disaggregated white-box networking utilizing Edgecore hardware and IP Infusion OcNOS.

• Create network-as-code operations leveraging Nautobot, Jinja, CI/CD, validation, staged rollouts, and rollback strategies.

• Develop telemetry and observability systems for network operations.

• Implement AI for anomaly detection, automated triage, and human-in-the-loop auto-remediation processes.

• Take ownership of network availability, failure mitigation, incident diagnosis, and post-mortem improvement initiatives.

• Work collaboratively with the software team on customer API and provisioning layers.

• Partner with ISP engineers for seamless network hand-offs.

• Assist in hiring and developing the network engineering team.

• Oversee network architecture across BGP edge, backbone, PoPs, and data centers throughout Africa.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in building and operating large networks within a hyperscaler, CDN, internet exchange, carrier, or ISP environment.

• Extensive knowledge of BGP at scale, including route policy, communities, RPKI, traffic engineering, peering, and transit.

• Strong background in data center and backbone design.

• Familiarity with Clos/EVPN-VXLAN fabrics and MPLS or Segment Routing technologies.

• Practical experience with white-box or disaggregated networking.

• Expertise in hardware selection and an understanding of silicon limitations.

• Capability to write network automation scripts in Python or a similar programming language.

• Experience in building or managing CI/CD pipelines, source-of-truth systems, and telemetry frameworks.

• Proven track record of maintaining availability for critical production systems and analyzing real incidents.

• Experience incorporating AI tools into network operations.

• Ability to communicate clearly and directly with partners' engineers and founders.

• Nice to have: experience with internet exchanges or large-scale peering.

• Nice to have: proficiency in SONiC, OcNOS, FRR, or contributions to open networking stacks.

• Nice to have: experience with streaming telemetry using gNMI/gRPC or sFlow.

• Nice to have: familiarity with 400G/800G and optical ZR deployments, including vendor selection and certification.

• Nice to have: experience with GPON/XGS-PON, MikroTik, or Huawei equipment.

• Nice to have: network-building experience in Africa or Latin America.

• Nice to have: expertise in DDoS mitigation at the edge.
