Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and sustain backend services, microservices, and REST APIs that facilitate cyber training and range capabilities.

• Create software utilizing modern programming languages such as TypeScript, Go, Python, or similar technologies.

• Construct and maintain applications that operate within Kubernetes-based environments.

• Integrate software solutions with virtualized and cloud infrastructures, including AWS or comparable platforms.

• Develop and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code technologies like Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, or equivalent tools.

• Diagnose and resolve issues related to application, infrastructure, integration, and deployment across distributed environments.

• Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing procedures.

• Collaborate with software engineering, DevOps/DevSecOps, infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity teams.

• Contribute to PCTE, RangeOS, and related Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture initiatives.

• Engage in technical planning, design discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Provide technical or project leadership as appropriate based on experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.

• Over 5 years of professional software development experience.

• Significant experience in building backend applications, services, or REST APIs.

• Strong expertise in at least one or two programming languages.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration technologies.

• Experience with containerized applications utilizing technologies such as Docker.

• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience working collaboratively in modern software development environments, including Agile, DevOps, or DevSecOps.

• Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Go (Golang) development is highly valued.

• Expertise in designing and implementing REST APIs and distributed backend services is highly valued.

• Experience with Kubernetes, including application deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, or platform integration is highly valued.

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as KVM, VMware, or Hyper-V is highly valued.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is highly valued.

• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, or CloudFormation is highly valued.

• Experience with modern frontend technologies such as React, Angular, Vue, TypeScript, HTML, or CSS is highly valued.

• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development practices is highly valued.

• Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, configuration, or troubleshooting is highly valued.

• Experience with DevOps or DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment is highly valued.

• Experience in designing, deploying, supporting, or maintaining cyber ranges, training environments, or virtualized lab environments is highly valued.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes APIs, client-go, custom controllers, or Kubernetes operators is highly valued.
