Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and deploy across all Ori platforms, encompassing the ori CLI and harness integrations.

• Execute model switching, provider fallbacks, model-specific tool and prompt configurations, and organizational guidelines without necessitating additional user authentication.

• Construct the agent runtime, featuring sandboxed agents, secrets management, session oversight, compaction, and transferable agent capabilities.

• Manage the deployment, forking, and termination of agents on demand, ensuring version-controlled and auditable agent states.

• Take full responsibility for quality throughout the entire process, including installation, authentication, CLI user experience, reliability, observability, and evaluations.

• Utilize and internally test the products.

• Relay product deficiencies back into OpenRouter APIs and SDKs to enhance multi-model agent support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience delivering production software.

• Genuine ownership of developer tools, CLIs, agent products, or the underlying infrastructure.

• Daily proficiency with coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi, or Hermes.

• Defined perspectives on the qualities that make an agent loop, harness, or tool integration effective.

• Knowledge of tool invocation, context management, prompt caching, evaluations, and trade-offs related to model cost, latency, and quality.

• Sound judgment regarding sandboxing, process isolation, secrets, and reliability for multiple users.

• A proactive approach and a strong bias towards action.

• Aesthetic sense for developer tools.

• Nice to have: experience with open-source agent harnesses, CLIs, or developer tools.

• Nice to have: familiarity with multi-agent systems, agent skills or memory, or evaluation and benchmarking tools.

• Nice to have: experience in shipping a Slack app or a native macOS application.

• Nice to have: prior experience with OpenRouter or Ori user interfaces, or involvement in AI tooling side projects.
