Software Engineer, Application Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application bugs and system issues.

• Address confirmed defects identified through autonomous testing and validation by human Test Engineers.

• Conduct root-cause analysis for complex and recurring technical issues.

• Create, test, document, and deploy reliable application fixes.

• Analyze application logs, APIs, databases, integrations, and infrastructure during issue diagnosis.

• Work closely with Test Engineers to reproduce defects and validate fixes that have been implemented.

• Manage production issues and provide technical support for application incidents.

• Assist with application maintenance, upgrades, dependency updates, and security remediation.

• Participate in code reviews and adhere to secure coding and development practices.

• Maintain technical documentation for application fixes, system behaviors, configurations, and integrations.

• Support the controlled release and deployment of applications.

• Follow government configuration management and change control processes.

• Safeguard government, sensitive, proprietary, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

• Conduct scheduled quarterly reviews and tuning of AI/model performance.

• Analyze AI behavior using testing results, human validation, production observations, and user feedback.

• Identify and rectify inaccurate, inconsistent, incomplete, or undesirable AI behaviors.

• Modify approved prompts, configurations, model parameters, workflows, guardrails, and integrations.

• Establish baseline measurements prior to major tuning activities.

• Validate model and configuration changes in approved non-production environments.

• Collaborate with Test Engineers to independently validate AI behavior post-tuning.

• Document significant changes in models, prompts, configurations, and behaviors.

• Maintain traceability and version history for changes related to AI.

• Evaluate tuning results against established quality and performance criteria.

• Monitor for regressions and unintended behaviors following updates.

• Ensure that model tuning aligns with government security, privacy, data-handling, and AI governance requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering or application development experience.

• Strong experience in developing and maintaining production web applications.

• Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving application defects.

• Excellent debugging and root-cause analysis capabilities.

• Familiarity with APIs, databases, integrations, and distributed application components.

• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, C#, or other relevant programming languages.

• Experience with contemporary frontend and/or backend development frameworks.

• Knowledge of Git and modern source control workflows.

• Understanding of CI/CD and controlled software deployment processes.

• Experience collaborating with QA/Test Engineers to reproduce and resolve defects.

• Knowledge of secure software development principles.

• Strong technical documentation and communication abilities.

• Must be based in the United States.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Must successfully complete the required background investigation and adjudication.

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust determination.

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain applicable DoD/government information system access, including completion and approval of DD Form 2875 when required.

• Must complete necessary cybersecurity, information assurance, privacy, and security-awareness training.

• Must comply with government and organizational requirements regarding credentials, system access, sensitive information, source code, application data, and acceptable use.

• Must maintain continued eligibility for government system access throughout employment as required.
