Software Engineer 4 – Android

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy Android features and infrastructure utilized directly by users or by other Netflix engineers.

• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code that is supported by automated tests, including JVM unit and Espresso tests.

• Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to define project scope and evaluate trade-offs.

• Keep up with modern Android tools and practices, contributing to the modernization of the codebase.

• Utilize GenAI tools in everyday development and investigate agentic workflows.

• Communicate proactively with team members and stakeholders, demonstrating project management and estimation capabilities.

• Take ownership of projects from inception to completion, including defining scope, development, and deployment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong understanding of Android development, with the ability to quickly adapt to new frameworks and paradigms.

• Proficient coding skills in Kotlin (Java is a plus) and comfortable navigating related technologies such as GraphQL.

• Proven experience in delivering actual features.

• Ability to assess trade-offs and make informed decisions with limited information.

• Experience with Jetpack Compose, Circuit, Dagger/Hilt, or GraphQL (preferred).

• Background in building or maintaining SDKs, developer tools, or shared client frameworks (preferred).

• Familiarity with high-scale or real-time systems, including live streaming, advertisements, or playback (preferred).
