• Design, construct, implement, and troubleshoot software for power and performance management in data centers, focusing on comprehensive power management within racks and data halls.
• Create real-time controllers, policies, and mechanisms that dynamically enhance performance, power usage, thermal management, and energy efficiency under high-demand data center workloads.
• Propel features through all stages including requirements gathering, architectural design, implementation, pre-silicon validation, silicon bring-up, productization, and ongoing production support.
• Work in conjunction with GPU architects and hardware engineers to define hardware-software interfaces and impact the power management capabilities of upcoming processors.
• Assess the interactions between workloads, clock speeds, voltage levels, power constraints, thermal conditions, telemetry, and overarching system policies.
• Lead the investigation and resolution of issues related to power, performance, stability, and reliability across firmware, drivers, hardware, and platform software.
• Formulate validation strategies and automation protocols to ensure functional correctness, transition latency, performance-per-watt, and robustness under varying operating conditions.
• Develop architecture, interface, and specifications for new power management features.
• Collaborate with architecture, ASIC, firmware, driver, validation, platform, and data center systems teams distributed across different geographical locations.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline—or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 12+ years of substantial industry experience in developing system software, embedded firmware, device drivers, or other hardware-related production software.
• Proficient programming skills in C, including experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining intricate low-level software.
• Comprehensive understanding of operating system principles, device driver architecture, embedded or real-time software, concurrency, interrupt handling, and hardware programming.
• Experience in interpreting hardware specifications and designing software interfaces for registers, telemetry, interrupts, and control mechanisms.
• Solid understanding of computer architecture and the interactions between hardware and software.
• Demonstrated capability to independently troubleshoot complex issues across various software and hardware layers.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven history of effective collaboration across organizational and geographical boundaries.
• Experience in architecting, designing, or implementing data center provisioning, monitoring, and power management at a CSP/NCP.
• Practical experience with GPU, CPU, accelerator, or SoC power and performance management.
• Familiarity with creating or implementing P-state selection, DVFS, clock control, voltage control, power capping, thermal management, throttling, or workload-aware control policies.
• Experience in developing real-time feedback controllers, including considerations of stability, responsiveness, hysteresis, latency, and noisy telemetry.
• Knowledge of electrical and platform factors such as voltage-frequency relationships, transient power, thermal limits, power delivery, and overall system power budgets.
