Software Engineer 4, AI-Native

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the agent team on production workflows by breaking down challenges into tasks suitable for agents, delegating them, and incorporating the results into released software.

• Assess agent-generated pull requests in terms of quantity and detail for accuracy, security, and accessibility issues.

• Create evaluation suites that quantify quality and verify correctness.

• Take ownership of overall quality, encompassing accuracy, performance, security posture, and WCAG accessibility.

• Progress workstreams along the autonomy ladder by utilizing reliability data.

• Revert to supervised execution if measured reliability does not support autonomy.

• Enhance the AI-native development lifecycle by identifying patterns, prompts, or pipeline components that have degraded.

• Collaborate with the lead architect to address lifecycle challenges.

• Ensure agent operations remain within the security boundaries, including branch-only execution, secured credentials, sandboxed actions, and in-VPC inference.

• Guide engineers transitioning to agent-directed delivery.

• Contribute to lifecycle standards as a co-author.

• Safeguard Granicus information assets and employee/customer data in compliance with security and privacy policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong foundational engineering knowledge in data structures, systems design, and testing.

• Ability to quickly read and accurately assess unfamiliar code.

• Proven track record of delivering production software with accountability for quality, diagnosis, and remediation during failures.

• Practical experience directing coding agents in production tasks, including understanding their failure modes.

• Experience in critically reviewing code generated by agents.

• Demonstrated competence in code review, including the ability to spot defects that automated tests may overlook.

• Capability to provide actionable feedback while maintaining a high quality standard without causing delays.

• High level of autonomy and proactive escalation skills.

• Preferred: experience in FedRAMP, defense, financial services, healthcare, NIST 800-53, SOC 2, or HIPAA-regulated environments.

• Preferred: expertise in evaluation authoring or test-first development within a rigorous engineering culture.

• Preferred: full-stack proficiency sufficient to evaluate both front-end and back-end outputs.

• Preferred: experience in the public sector or govtech, along with familiarity with relevant end users.

• Must maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Granicus information assets.

• Must ensure data privacy and complete the necessary privacy training.

• No degree requirements for most positions; no specific degree necessary for this role.
