Software Development Engineer III – Conversations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design and manage Node.js/NestJS services dedicated to message storage, retrieval, and state synchronization.

• Develop well-typed REST contracts for Threads and Composer functionalities.

• Create and enhance MongoDB/Firestore schemas to handle high read/write volumes and atomic updates effectively.

• Implement queuing systems, caching mechanisms, and rate limiting strategies for handling peak traffic.

• Deliver modular Vue 3 user interfaces that consume APIs and manage real-time state updates.

• Instrument logs, metrics, and traces to monitor latency, error rates, and throughput.

• Ensure comprehensive unit, integration, and contract test coverage.

• Engage in on-call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, and complete post-mortem action items.

• Collaborate with Product and Frontend leaders, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of professional engineering experience, ideally with a focus on backend development in a full-stack role.

• Proficient in Node.js and TypeScript.

• Familiarity with NestJS or Express microservices is essential.

• Expertise in Vue 3 or comparable modern frontend frameworks.

• Strong grasp of API design, data modeling, and patterns in distributed systems.

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS), containerization technologies, and CI/CD automation.

• Practical knowledge of observability and monitoring in production environments.

• Experience with Pub/Sub or message queue systems is advantageous.

• Background in event-driven or domain-driven design is a plus.
