Software Development Engineer II – Mainframe Assembler

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and test software applications for assigned tasks under the mentorship of senior developers.

• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues with guidance.

• Assist in diagnosing application or system problems during the development and testing phases.

• Analyze well-defined business or system requirements thoroughly.

• Implement low-complexity technical solutions for designated modules or tasks.

• Contribute to mainframe assembler development efforts.

• Engage in code reviews, design discussions, and backlog or sprint planning activities.

• Acquire development best practices and professional insights from senior colleagues.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders and team members to clarify requirements, communicate progress, and identify obstacles promptly.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 3-6 years of coding experience in Mainframe Assembler or TPF is essential.

• Engaging in analysis, development, testing, validation, and collaboration is a daily requirement.

• Proficiency in Assembler.

• Capability to provide QA support.

• Knowledge of JAVA and Python is a plus.

• Experience in Agile methodologies is advantageous.

• Ability to adhere to established coding standards, development guidelines, and security or quality expectations.

• Familiarity with mainframe assembler development principles.

• Understanding of DB2/files concepts and technical problem-solving skills.

• Eagerness to learn ACP/CCS business and system knowledge relevant to assigned duties.

• Proficiency in Mainframe Assembler Programming.

• Knowledge of Java is an additional asset.

• Familiarity with JCL and COBOL is a bonus.

• Experience with Agile methodologies.

• Debugging skills.

• DB2 knowledge is a plus.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a learning-oriented mindset.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
