Software Developer – Deploy & Run

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain Slice's Internal Developer Platform.

• Establish self-service tools and automation to minimize repetitive tasks and decrease operational overhead.

• Design and execute GitOps workflows utilizing ArgoCD.

• Enhance the Kubernetes platform with reusable patterns, templates, and guardrails.

• Create internal applications and developer tools using Python.

• Improve CI/CD pipelines through GitHub Actions.

• Leverage generative AI to create and manage internal services, including autonomous services.

• Boost observability with Datadog dashboards, metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.

• Collaborate with product engineering teams to enhance the developer experience.

• Alleviate engineers' cognitive load by standardizing workflows and automating infrastructure operations.

• Advocate for best practices in reliability, security, automation, and platform adoption.

• Enhance deployment reliability, platform adoption, operational efficiency, and the ability of engineers to transition software from concept to production.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates can be located throughout the UK, Canada, or North Macedonia.

• All levels of candidates are encouraged to apply, including associate, intermediate, or senior levels.

• Proficient in production-quality software development, especially in Python.

• Experience in operating or developing on Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with modern cloud-native deployment methodologies.

• Knowledge of GitOps principles is essential.

• Experience with ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, or comparable deployment and automation tools.

• Understanding of reliability, observability, operational ease, monitoring, logging, metrics, and incident response.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to articulate requirements in RFC/PRD documents or ticketing systems.

• A collaborative mindset when working with engineering teams.

• Demonstrated ownership of challenges from identification to implementation.

• Proficient use of generative AI tools.

• Product engineering experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
