Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the product manager to develop tools that align with the defined roadmap.

• Create scalable, testable, and maintainable backend-oriented software while also contributing to the frontend using Python, Java, and TypeScript/NextJS.

• Utilize AI tools to expedite development processes and enhance code reviews, ensuring human oversight is maintained.

• Assist in the creation of technical documentation and educational resources for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Evaluate contributor code and offer feedback on best practices.

• Manage issues and maintain tools based on their severity and priority.

• Engage in projects like the GTFS Validator, MobilityDatabase Web, and Mobility Feed API.

• Share expertise and advocate for standard methodologies.

• Work collaboratively with developers, product managers, technical leadership, and the open-source community.

• Report directly to the technical lead.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer information systems, a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience.

• Over 3 years of professional software development experience.

• Strong proficiency in Python and/or Java.

• Openness to working with TypeScript/NextJS.

• Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure.

• Experience with automated delivery pipelines.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform.

• Proficient in using OpenAPI for Schema-First/Model-First development and contract-driven APIs.

• A keen interest in public transport and shared mobility initiatives.

• Proven experience in taking ownership of specific features.

• Skills in troubleshooting complex issues effectively.

• Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation.

• Full proficiency in spoken and written English.

• Multilingual capabilities are considered a plus.
