Software Asset Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist in the implementation and ongoing development of the enterprise Software Asset Management program.

• Manage governance, processes, standards, controls, and reporting throughout the software lifecycle.

• Ensure the accuracy of the enterprise software inventory, entitlements, contracts, usage, and configuration data.

• Oversee license compliance and coordinate lifecycle activities across IT and business units.

• Recognize opportunities to mitigate risks, enhance utilization, and optimize expenses.

• Collaborate with Procurement, Vendor Management, Finance, Legal, Information Security, software owners, and business stakeholders.

• Provide direction and leadership to the technology operations team overseeing the software asset management lifecycle.

• Conduct regular software audits, identify inaccuracies or outdated records, and facilitate the correction of data discrepancies.

• Manage software requests, approvals, acquisitions, deployments, updates, renewals, and retirements.

• Create, monitor, and report on software asset management metrics and key risk indicators.

• Assist with contract negotiations, renewals, audits, software publisher reviews, and purchasing decisions utilizing entitlement, usage, and cost data.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• Over 6 years of experience in software asset management and license compliance.

• Experience with ServiceNow is highly desirable.

• IAITAM/CSAM certification preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of software asset management industry standards, frameworks, and best practices.

• Advanced understanding of the business requirements of financial institutions and software solutions that support operational, security, compliance, and regulatory needs.

• Financial management capabilities, including software budgeting, cost analysis, forecasting, and optimization.

• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills for engaging with software publishers, vendors, procurement teams, and auditors.

• Familiarity with software asset management, discovery, and inventory platforms such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, ServiceNow Discovery, Microsoft Configuration Manager, Snow, Tanium, or similar tools.

• Proficiency in managing complex licensing environments across both on-premise and cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, GCP, and SaaS.

• Reliable internet connection for remote or hybrid work; cable or fiber preferred, mobile hotspots are not acceptable.

• Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through electronic channels.

• Capability to frequently use a computer, including typing and maintaining focus on a monitor.

• Ability to sit, walk, and/or stand for extended periods.

• Capacity to bend and reach as necessary.
