β’ Manage the social content calendar for POGO Investigates
β’ Create native social media packages for the launch of investigations across platforms such as X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook
β’ Draft social media copy in the POGO Investigates style, focusing on findings and maintaining a content mix of approximately 70% native and 30% linked material
β’ Generate ongoing content across newsroom pillars, including individual data points, archive features, behind-the-scenes insights, reporter highlights, and posts about impact and outcomes
β’ Design and edit short-form videos lasting 30β60 seconds, along with pull quotes, data graphics, and document snapshots using established templates and the Brand Kit
β’ Work together with the associate designer and Creative team on more complex production assets
β’ Develop and sustain an evergreen content library from interview footage, B-roll, testimony clips, data visualizations, podcast audio, and published data
β’ Enhance email list growth through social media initiatives, including link stickers, newsletter conversion efforts, and automation tools like ManyChat
β’ Monitor performance metrics in Sprout Social and platform analytics in relation to strategic benchmarks
β’ Provide weekly reports during launches and monthly updates thereafter
β’ Collaborate with the Digital team's social media manager and digital engagement staff to ensure POGO Investigates accounts align with POGO's main channels
β’ Utilize collaborative posts, cross-posting, and shared content while avoiding duplication
β’ Report directly to the Digital Engagement Manager
β’ A minimum of three years' experience managing social media for a newsroom, news organization, or journalism nonprofit, with proven success in packaging reported stories for social platforms
β’ Capability to produce native content across various formats, including written threads, carousels, short-form videos, and data graphics
β’ Proficiency in tools such as Canva, Adobe Express or Creative Cloud, CapCut, or similar software
β’ Strong news judgment and storytelling instincts
β’ Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt voice by platform while remaining consistent with a newsroom brand
β’ Familiarity with social media management and analytics tools, such as Sprout Social or equivalent
β’ Skill in translating performance data into content strategy decisions
β’ Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage a multi-platform content calendar
β’ Competence in coordinating efforts among reporters, newsroom leadership, editors, designers, and communications personnel
β’ Understanding of nonpartisan communication and the ability to cover politically sensitive topics without partisan bias
β’ Commitment to POGO's mission and values, including equity and inclusion
β’ Resume submission is required
β’ (+) Experience at an investigative or accountability-driven outlet, or in covering federal government, Congress, or public policy
β’ (+) Basic skills in video editing and motion graphics, as well as experience directing or shooting reporter-facing video
β’ (+) Experience in establishing or revitalizing a social media presence, including audience retention through rebranding or acquisition efforts
β’ (+) Familiarity with LinkedIn newsletters, native document posts, and audience development within policy and professional circles
β’ Availability during POGO's operating hours of 9AM-6PM EST
