This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Assess, evaluate, treat, and develop plans for patients referred by physicians with disorders related to speech, language, hearing, and oral myofunctional function.

• Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team regarding patient treatment.

• Engage in team meetings, patient-care discussions, and conferences with patients and their families.

• Provide education to physicians and staff on speech-language interventions to promote continuity of care.

• Maintain accurate clinical records, care plans, billing sheets, evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other necessary documentation.

• Conduct evaluations for dysphagia, voice, communication, cognitive functions, language, and hearing screenings.

• Administer and assess speech-language interventions in accordance with clinical guidelines and standards of practice.

• Develop and implement home programs to meet the educational needs of patients and families.

• Train and delegate restorative speech-language programs to nursing personnel.

• Contact patients in a timely manner and adhere to established visit schedules.

• Execute CPR when requested by the patient or their representative.

• Demonstrate proper equipment handling and maintain it according to established policies.

• Adhere to supply requisition protocols.

• Continuously assess the effectiveness of treatment plans.

• Coordinate with the care team to manage changes in the level of patient care.

• Recognize the stages of death and dying.

• Primarily work in patients’ homes and travel frequently across Clarksburg, Morgantown, and Uniontown locations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Current licensure as mandated by the state board for services in WV, PA, OH, or MD for Speech-Language Pathologists.

• CPR certification to be obtained within 30 days of hiring.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Strong initiative and sound judgment in assessing and delivering speech-language services.

• Effective time management skills.

• Knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and procedures.

• Ability to walk, stand, and sit frequently; capability to position patients for care.

• Physical ability to demonstrate speech-language interventions.

• Proficient in written communication.

• Sufficient visual and auditory acuity.

• Willingness to primarily work in patients’ homes with significant travel involved.

• Preferred: Membership in the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASLHA).
