Sleep Technologist, Scorer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Conduct scoring of sleep testing raw data under the overall supervision of the Sleep Lab Manager and Medical Director or their designee.

• Score sleep studies in accordance with the latest AASM Scoring Manual.

• Analyze physiological data to recognize sleep stages, respiratory events, and any abnormalities.

• Interpret sleep architecture, sleep staging, arousal frequency, sleep efficiency, and REM latency.

• Maintain precise scoring, demographic, and clinical documentation in EMR or other designated systems.

• Ensure adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and quality assurance standards.

• Troubleshoot issues with sleep monitoring equipment and software, liaising with vendors or technical support as necessary.

• Engage in departmental meetings, case conferences, and initiatives for quality improvement.

• Score assigned studies within specified timeframes, completing scoring within 24 calendar hours of receiving a complete study, unless hindered by technical or data-entry problems.

• Maintain technical proficiency across scoring duties for acquisition platforms.

• Train new hires and trainee polysomnographic scorers.

• Submit necessary documents and fees to the state licensing authority.

• Obtain and uphold polysomnographic licenses without interruption and manage continuing education credits effectively.

• Ensure reliable home internet connectivity and communicate with team members via email.

• Participate in quality assurance and the AASM-compliant Interscorer Reliability Program.

• Review and evaluate sleep studies, offering educational feedback to staff and coordinators.

• Support medical, clinical, and sleep center leadership in scoring operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma is mandatory.

• Current credentials as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) in good standing through the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists; RST, RPSGT, CPSGT, CRT-SDS, or RRT-SDS credentials are acceptable under stated AASM conditions.

• Current CPR/BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.

• Experience in scoring in-lab studies or home sleep studies.

• Familiarity with current AASM rules, regulations, and scoring manual.

• Maintain appropriate credentialing and adhere to certification requirements.

• Ability to score sleep studies for sleep staging, arousals, respiratory events, and limb movements.

• Proficient in reviewing and editing computer-assisted scoring on an epoch-by-epoch basis.

• Ability to analyze EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, respiratory signals, and oximetry data.

• Comfortable with microcomputers and Windows-based software applications.

• Possess computer skills relevant to the position.

• Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication abilities.

• Exhibit critical thinking skills and the capability to work with minimal supervision.

• Ability to multitask in a dynamic, high-volume setting.

• Capacity to collaborate with multiple disciplines.
