This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Assess and oversee patients experiencing sleep disorders and conditions that may affect sleep quality.
• Deliver care to new, ongoing, consultation, telehealth, and telephone-care patients.
• Execute thorough outpatient Sleep Medicine services.
• Address associated medical conditions that impact sleep disorders.
• Provide direct patient care via synchronous telehealth.
• Identify suitable sleep testing methods and order clinically relevant sleep studies.
• Review raw sleep study results and patient documentation.
• Analyze sleep studies within a 7-day timeframe.
• Relay sleep study findings to patients and providers within 14 days.
• Complete electronic consultations and review medical records.
• Conduct initial patient appointments lasting about 60 minutes and follow-up consultations of approximately 30 minutes.
• Administer required suicide screenings for new patients.
• Carry out sleepiness and insomnia evaluations when clinically warranted.
• Track the completion of testing and any necessary follow-up actions.
• Oversee remote physiological and therapeutic monitoring programs.
• Communicate securely with veterans through messaging.
• Collaborate with referring providers and interdisciplinary teams for coordinated care.
• Discuss test outcomes and treatment strategies.
• Complete electronic health record (EHR) and billing documentation within facility deadlines, generally within 24 hours of patient encounters.
• Conduct chart reviews and audits related to patient safety initiatives involving Somnoware.
• Engage in quality enhancement efforts, quality assurance/documentation, and monthly quality meetings.
• Participate in team huddles and staff gatherings.
• Adhere to all VA patient safety regulations and reporting protocols.
• Be accessible during assigned clinic hours via Teams, phone, and email.
• Monitor the completion of tests and follow-up procedures.
• Uphold confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards.
• Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine through the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
• Hold an active, full, and unrestricted medical practice license in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
• No prior instances of restricted, suspended, revoked, denied, or voluntarily surrendered licensure.
• Provide NPI report printout.
• Maintain an active DEA license.
• Must successfully pass a federal background check.
• Capability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders throughout the work shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from the floor to waist level.
• Lift up to 20 lbs.
• Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
• Push/pull with up to 30 lbs of force.
• Must have resided continuously in the United States for the three years prior to appointment at a federal facility.
