Site Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of reliability and performance investigations across Akamai's global edge platform, as well as media and web delivery systems.

• Identify issues across application, platform, network, and operating-system layers utilizing logs, metrics, traces, and diagnostic tools.

• Work collaboratively with Product, Engineering, Support, Network, and senior SRE teams to identify root causes and implement enduring solutions.

• Leverage telemetry, SLIs, SLOs, KPIs, dashboards, and alerts to assess system health and customer impact.

• Examine platform behavior, traffic patterns, and system bottlenecks to enhance performance, scalability, and resilience.

• Develop scripts, automation, internal tools, and workflows to streamline operational efforts and enhance diagnostics and incident response.

• Utilize AI-driven analysis to create workflows with accuracy, safety, and human oversight.

• Serve as a technical escalation point for global support and address critical issues across delivery products and platform technologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong background in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields, or significant industry experience in large-scale SRE roles.

• Capability to evaluate technical challenges, analyze system behavior, and extract insights from data.

• Knowledge of caching, proxies, TLS, TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP/HTTPS architectures.

• Proficiency in Linux or Unix systems, command-line utilities, and essential diagnostic techniques.

• Familiarity with structured data and telemetry, or basic SQL skills.

• Ability to read and interpret C++ code.

• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and SRE environments.
