Senior Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain software and systems aimed at enhancing service availability, scalability, and efficiency.

• Establish the architectural framework for infrastructure and platform services.

• Create and implement tools and processes for deployment, change management, service management, and infrastructure management.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in critical systems throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

• Contribute to the advancement and performance enhancement of engineering platform capabilities.

• Conduct capacity planning and demand forecasting to identify potential performance bottlenecks.

• Engage in rotating on-call responsibilities.

• Collaborate with teams in product development, developer experience, and backend infrastructure engineering.

• Develop platform services that support Thumbtack’s applications and engineering organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive proficiency in AWS and Linux environments.

• Capability to proficiently read, write, and debug code within production-facing systems.

• Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.

• In-depth knowledge of DNS, TLS, HTTP/S, and TCP/IP protocols.

• Ability to break down complex problems and comprehend delivery trade-offs.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing infrastructure and systems.

• Proven knowledge of instrumenting, operating, and monitoring distributed microservices in a production cloud environment.

• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with cross-functional partners across various technical levels.
