Site Permitting Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement comprehensive plans for permitting and compliance, which include schedules, milestones, budgets, field execution strategies, and regulatory approaches.

• Research, identify, secure, and uphold federal, state, and local permits, approvals, and land use authorizations.

• Ensure adherence to permit stipulations, land lease commitments, county zoning regulations, and environmental laws.

• Compile conditions from permits and leases into actionable compliance guides, field procedures, and training resources.

• Prepare, review, and submit permit applications along with necessary supporting documentation.

• Maintain thorough records of permitting and compliance efforts.

• Conduct field assessments, internal reviews, regulatory inspections, and track corrective actions.

• Coordinate documentation for spill responses and manage environmental compliance activities.

• Collaborate with teams across engineering, geology, legal, environmental, land, project management, construction, and operations.

• Act as the primary point of contact with federal, state, local, and tribal agencies.

• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and community outreach initiatives.

• Monitor changes in regulations and propose updates to permitting strategies, compliance programs, and internal practices.

• Provide project leadership with status updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Land Use Planning, Land Management, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related technical field.

• Over 5 years of experience in permitting, environmental compliance, land management, or project development within geothermal, renewable energy, transmission, mining, or oil and gas sectors.

• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting procedures and environmental regulations.

• Exceptional organizational, communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

• Capability to interpret intricate regulatory documents and convert requirements into effective implementation plans.

• Proven skills in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and relationship building.

• Self-motivated individual with the capacity to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.

• Commitment to environmental stewardship, regulatory excellence, and responsible energy practices.

• Willingness to travel approximately 30% to project locations throughout the western United States.

• Familiarity with ESRI GIS software and/or CAD.

• Experience in developing compliance management systems, inspection programs, or environmental training initiatives.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

• Knowledgeable about public land permitting, land rights, reclamation, SWPPP implementation, and geothermal development.
