Shopify Technical Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performance Shopify solutions, which include themes, custom applications, and API integrations.

• Actively engage in Shopify development utilizing Liquid, Online Store 2.0, app development, integrations, and third-party APIs.

• Promote standards for code quality, security, performance, documentation, and maintainability.

• Mentor and guide developers through pair programming, code reviews, constructive feedback, and knowledge sharing.

• Direct technical strategy, estimation, release planning, risk management, and readiness for delivery in collaboration with Architects and Project Managers.

• Spearhead the adoption of AI coding agents and emerging technologies, implementing suitable workflows, guidelines, and quality controls.

• Provide counsel to clients on their Shopify ecosystem, platform functionalities, technical trade-offs, integrations, and eCommerce solutions.

• Contribute to the formulation of eCommerce strategies and roadmaps using data analysis, research, competitive insights, and Shopify best practices.

• Lead or participate in client workshops, proposals, discovery sessions, and pre-sales activities.

• Link technical recommendations to measurable results such as conversion rates, revenue, average order value (AOV), retention, and customer experience.

• Convert business requirements into user stories and assist in managing the backlog.

• Engage in Agile ceremonies to align business objectives with technical execution.

• Balance the needs of clients with technical limitations, platform capabilities, and eCommerce opportunities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in software development.

• Substantial hands-on experience in building and scaling Shopify or similar eCommerce solutions.

• Extensive knowledge of Shopify, Liquid, Online Store 2.0, Shopify APIs (Admin API, Storefront API, Shopify Functions), and custom application development or integrations.

• Experience with Shopify Plus is highly advantageous.

• Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring, or supervising developers.

• Strong grasp of eCommerce strategy, data-driven decision-making, KPI development, conversion optimization, customer experience, and digital roadmaps.

• Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.

• Capacity to advise both technical and business stakeholders and facilitate strategic workshops.

• Familiarity with Product Owner practices, including requirements gathering, user stories, backlog management, prioritization, and Agile delivery.

• Working knowledge of PIM, DAM, ERP, CDP, search and merchandising, and review platforms.

• Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.

• Knowledge of French is a plus.

• Practical experience with AI coding agents and agentic development workflows, or a strong willingness to quickly adapt to new AI tools and technologies.

• Strong analytical capabilities, sound judgment, independence, organizational skills, and prioritization abilities.

• Experience in agency or client services is highly beneficial.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery environments.

• Experience with BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, Contentful, Sanity, or Storyblok is an asset.
