Shopify Backend Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Oversee and sustain the product catalog within the Shopify platform and the PIM system.

• Streamline SKUs, remove duplicates, and ensure a uniform product data structure.

• Conduct audits, clean, and standardize product titles, descriptions, images, tags, and metadata.

• Accurately map product variants and ensure the correct association of attributes and options.

• Supervise and rectify category structures, collections, and product taxonomy.

• Collaborate with internal teams (merchandising, operations, marketing) to verify product information.

• Assist with bulk imports, exports, and updates using CSV or PIM tools.

• Identify data gaps or inconsistencies and implement corrective measures.

• Ensure product data complies with internal standards and industry best practices.

• Aid in optimizing products for search, filtering, and enhancing the customer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Shopify Admin, Product Data Specialist, or E-commerce Catalog Manager.

• Practical experience with PIM platforms (e.g., Akeneo, Plytix, Salsify, Syndigo, inRiver, or similar).

• Strong knowledge of SKU structures, product variants, and data relationships.

• Advanced skills in CSV uploads, bulk editing, and proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel.

• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify data inconsistencies.

• Experience in managing extensive and complex product catalogs.

• Strong organizational and communication abilities.

• Capability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple data tasks.
