Senior E-commerce Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily accounting functions, monthly closing processes, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, treasury assistance, and financial reporting.

• Take charge of the entire accounts payable cycle in NetSuite, which includes bill entry, coding, matching purchase orders, approvals, payment preparation, reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, processing payment runs, and maintaining remittance records.

• Manage invoicing and cash application for direct-to-consumer, retail, and commercial channels.

• Handle collections, resolve unapplied payments and credits, reconcile customer accounts, prepare statements, and report on accounts receivable aging.

• Supervise the monthly closing process and prepare accruals, prepaid amortization, fixed asset and depreciation entries, recurring journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and reconciliation packages.

• Analyze and clarify significant month-over-month fluctuations while enhancing the closing process.

• Record inventory receipts, match purchase orders with supplier invoices, investigate receiving discrepancies, and allocate landed costs.

• Accrue and reconcile customs and tariff obligations while maintaining duty and tariff outflow schedules.

• Investigate inventory variances and assist with cycle counts and reserve analysis.

• Prepare borrowing base certificates and credit-facility reporting; monitor compliance dates for covenants.

• Contribute to the rolling 13-week cash forecast and prepare daily and weekly cash position reports.

• Manage expense reports, corporate card coding, vendor onboarding, finance document management, master data, and the creation of standard operating procedures.

• Report directly to the VP of Finance and collaborate with U.S. vendors, customers, and stakeholders.

• Familiarize yourself with systems and processes, take ownership of accounts payable and receivable, manage the month-end close, prepare reconciliations and borrowing base materials, and identify process improvements within the first 90 days.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.

• Demonstrated full-cycle accounting experience.

• Directly managed or owned a month-end closing process.

• Experience in inventory accounting within a physical-product business, such as manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or e-commerce.

• Practical experience with NetSuite; familiarity with Sage Intacct, Dynamics 365 Business Central, or SAP Business One may also be considered.

• Fluent in professional written and spoken English.

• Comfortable communicating directly with U.S. vendors and customers.

• Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets, including lookups, pivot tables, large-file reconciliations, and complex workbooks.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently investigate and resolve discrepancies.

• Experience with international imports, customs duties, tariffs, landed costs, and brokerage is highly preferred.

• Preference for candidates with exposure to asset-based lending, borrowing base certificates, eligibility testing, or covenant reporting.

• Experience in multi-entity or multi-currency accounting and consolidation is strongly preferred.

• Preference for candidates with Shopify or other e-commerce accounting experience.

• Contador Público or equivalent local accounting qualification is highly preferred.

• Experience in a small or rapidly growing company is strongly preferred.

• Availability of at least 6 hours of daily overlap with U.S. Central Time.
