This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Install basic mechanical commercial food equipment and assist with more complex installations.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair basic mechanical commercial food equipment for clients.
• Complete and document preventative maintenance activities.
• Implement and uphold Hobart Service safety protocols and programs.
• Contribute to branch and organizational financial goals through high-quality customer interactions.
• Stay updated on organizational, industry, and equipment knowledge.
• Manage assigned company assets, including vehicles, tools, and inventory.
• Adhere to safe-driving and other related company policies.
• Read and follow service manuals, inspect equipment, and maintain familiarity with parts.
• Identify and promote sales or lead opportunities, including equipment, contract, and water-treatment leads.
• Conduct vehicle and equipment safety inspections and report any defects.
• Complete necessary safety training.
• Prioritize multiple tasks and projects while adhering to productivity and quality standards.
• Provide on-site customer support with travel required up to 50% of the time.
• Work standard business hours with the possibility of frequent extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 0–2 years of electrical or mechanical experience.
• Basic mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
• Some experience in troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret standard service manuals and mechanical diagrams.
• Understanding of basic math, measurements, and conversions.
• Basic proficiency in Windows applications and Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and comprehend safety guidelines.
• Strong oral communication skills with individuals both inside and outside the organization.
• Demonstrated skills in crisis and conflict resolution.
• Self-motivated with the capacity to take direction from senior technicians and management.
• Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for nights and/or weekends.
• Capability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to climb up to 10 ft using an A-frame ladder.
• Competence in operating motor vehicles, heavy equipment, machinery, and/or power tools.
