Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage essential distributed microservices utilizing Go and Python.

• Construct real-time event streaming and data processing pipelines with Kafka.

• Architect efficient and adaptable API interfaces across REST, GraphQL, and gRPC.

• Create effective schemas and enhance query performance for relational databases using Postgres and contemporary ORMs.

• Provision, sustain, and scale cloud infrastructure on GCP and AWS through Terraform and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.

• Guarantee high reliability, low latency, and operational visibility across backend systems utilizing Datadog.

• Oversee systems comprehensively from API design and data modeling to deploying resilient infrastructure and monitoring production performance.

• Independently manage sub-systems, optimize Postgres/ORM data pathways, handle cloud infrastructure updates, lead significant event-driven or API initiatives, and fulfill on-call duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in building and managing backend systems in a production environment.

• Strong proficiency in Go and Python, with significant experience in constructing concurrent, high-performance systems.

• Solid understanding of database fundamentals with Postgres and relational ORMs, including query optimization and schema migration techniques.

• Experience in developing and maintaining event-driven architectures using Kafka.

• Expertise in designing production APIs across REST, GraphQL, or gRPC.

• Practical experience with GCP and/or AWS, Terraform, and GitHub Actions.

• Familiarity with observability, distributed tracing, and metrics tools in Datadog.

• Strong written communication skills to create design documents and lead effective PR reviews.

• Capability to independently manage a technical domain with minimal supervision, propose direction in writing with clear specifications, conduct reviews, deliver, and take on-call responsibility for your contributions.
