Senior Java Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs, primarily utilizing Java.

• Produce high-quality production code as a fundamental aspect of daily responsibilities.

• Contribute to Python services and codebases as needed.

• Collaborate across approximately three to four interconnected microservices.

• Make impactful technical and architectural decisions.

• Decompose complex requirements and oversee their technical implementation.

• Review code and set robust engineering standards.

• Provide mentorship to engineers and offer technical guidance without formal line-management responsibilities.

• Work alongside Product Owners to assess requirements, trade-offs, and delivery methods.

• Develop and manage cloud-native services, primarily hosted on AWS.

• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker.

• Partner with DevOps engineers on CI/CD, deployment, scalability, and reliability.

• Leverage data, analytics, and operational insights to inform technical decisions.

• Engage in testing, documentation, and continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

• Support the adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools and solutions where suitable.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend engineering.

• Strong, recent, and hands-on experience with Java in a commercial setting.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and developing microservices or distributed systems.

• Professional experience in contributing to production-level Python codebases.

• In-depth knowledge of AWS and cloud-native application architecture.

• Solid practical experience with Kubernetes and Docker technologies.

• Experience in designing and integrating REST APIs.

• Good understanding of SQL and relational database systems.

• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and contemporary software delivery practices.

• Experience in influencing architecture or leading technical decision-making processes.

• Ability to review code and provide mentorship to other engineers.

• Strong comprehension of testing, maintainability, and production code quality.

• Comfortable managing multiple services and technical priorities concurrently.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and product stakeholders.

• Professional working proficiency in English (C1+).
