This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.
• Establish technical guidance for core data systems, lead design initiatives, and ensure the delivery of dependable production systems.
• Collaborate with Data team leadership to define the platform roadmap and assess architectural options as well as build-versus-buy decisions.
• Create ingestion services, integrations, and pipelines that provide precise and timely data.
• Set up testing, logging, alerting, and observability throughout the platform.
• Oversee workflow execution, worker infrastructure, upgrades, and operational reliability for the orchestration platform.
• Enhance deployment strategies while balancing considerations of performance, cost, and maintenance demands.
• Optimize the BigQuery environment, focusing on query performance, cost efficiency, permissions tools, and governance.
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineering on warehouse architecture and scalable dbt model foundations.
• Design APIs, event-driven ingestion, and reusable cloud services.
• Utilize infrastructure as code to develop maintainable infrastructure, reusable modules, and predictable deployments.
• Strengthen version control, CI/CD, testing, documentation, and operational practices across the Data Platform.
• Work alongside analytics engineers, analysts, scientists, Engineering, IT, Security, and business teams.
• Prepare datasets ready for modeling, make features accessible to downstream systems, and incorporate AI and LLM workflows into production.
• Guide data engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, design feedback, and coaching.
• Over 7 years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or a similar technical domain.
• Proven history of establishing direction, driving architectural initiatives, and delivering intricate data systems within a team.
• In-depth knowledge of contemporary cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Databricks, or Snowflake, including data modeling, query performance, cost management, and access control.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Practical experience in constructing dependable ingestion and ELT pipelines and maintainable data models.
• Familiarity with orchestration platforms like Prefect, Airflow, or Dagster, covering deployments, upgrades, worker management, and operational reliability.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code, utilizing Terraform or similar tools.
• Experience in developing cloud applications or backend services, including APIs, ingestion services, and event-driven workflows.
• Strong production engineering practices, including testing, logging, alerting, observability, version control, and CI/CD.
• Proven experience in mentoring engineers through coaching, code reviews, pairing, and design feedback.
• Excellent communication abilities and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude Code.
