This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Design, develop, integrate, and maintain low-level CPU software for Arista products.

β€’ Create automated tests utilizing C, C++, and Python.

β€’ Collaborate with hardware engineers and vendors to validate new CPUs and associated components.

β€’ Monitor developments in the Linux Kernel and pinpoint relevant features for Arista products and internal initiatives.

β€’ Contribute new features to upstream open-source BIOS communities.

β€’ Review and provide input on functional and design specifications.

β€’ Analyze, address, and resolve customer-network issues alongside Customer Support Engineers and clients.

β€’ Evaluate System Test Engineer challenges and offer solutions.

β€’ Provide technical leadership across various features, projects, and tools.

β€’ Mentor new and junior engineers.

β€’ Oversee projects from concept through deployment and customer engagement, ensuring quality delivery.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 8 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years, or a Ph.D. with 3 years, or equivalent professional experience.

β€’ Mastery of C programming with extensive experience.

β€’ Familiarity with C++ and Python is preferred.

β€’ Experience in designing and developing software for CPU firmware, BIOS, and boot loader environments.

β€’ Proven experience in bringing up new CPU boards.

β€’ Considerable hands-on experience in diagnosing issues, troubleshooting, and rectifying bugs in low-level CPU firmware, BIOS, and boot loader software.

β€’ Knowledge of Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation is advantageous.

β€’ Understanding of IP networking architecture, design, and principles is desirable.

β€’ Practical understanding of modern software engineering principles and practices.

β€’ Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.

β€’ Strong skills in software design and implementation.

β€’ Capability to work independently as well as part of small teams.

β€’ Effective communication skills with the ability to document designs and implementations clearly and succinctly.

β€’ Experience with x86 and ARM CPU architectures is beneficial.
