Senior/Lead Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Act as the technical lead for client engagements, ensuring alignment between business goals, engineering priorities, and technological possibilities.

• Collaborate with executive sponsors, product leaders, and engineering teams to develop technology roadmaps and promote AI-native adoption.

• Facilitate cross-functional workshops and solution design sessions.

• Serve as a trusted advisor while actively contributing to architecture, coding, and deployment efforts.

• Advocate for responsible AI practices, AI-assisted development workflows, automation, and ongoing experimentation.

• Guide customer engineers and internal teams on software development, AI-native delivery, architecture, and operational best practices.

• Direct technical discovery, stakeholder alignment, and solution planning to convert unclear business challenges into scalable solutions and delivery roadmaps.

• Utilize Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and other AI-assisted engineering tools for designing, building, testing, and optimizing software.

• Create and implement scalable solutions that integrate applications, services, APIs, databases, and enterprise platforms.

• Design and deliver modern software systems leveraging AI-native development methodologies.

• Work with various cloud platforms, development frameworks, programming languages, and enterprise environments.

• Establish and execute data integrations and pipelines for both structured and unstructured data.

• Construct and sustain integration layers that connect custom software with enterprise systems, APIs, legacy platforms, identity providers, security controls, and data services.

• Develop frameworks for observability, monitoring, and evaluation.

• Diagnose complex production issues across distributed systems, applications, integrations, and cloud environments.

• Collaborate with customer engineering teams to introduce AI-assisted workflows, automation, and contemporary engineering methods.

• Assess emerging AI tools and suggest improvements for customer delivery results.

• Ensure smooth handoff to customer teams through comprehensive documentation, knowledge transfer, and support for adoption.

• Maintain technical documentation, architecture decision records, solution designs, and best practices for implementation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong background in software development with experience in designing, building, and deploying production-grade applications and platforms.

• Proficient with AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows for solution design, development, testing, debugging, and delivery.

• Proven AI-native mindset that effectively integrates AI into development workflows.

• Experience in architecture and systems integration that connects applications, services, APIs, databases, and enterprise systems.

• Knowledge of structured and unstructured data sources, databases, and enterprise data ecosystems.

• Ability to navigate diverse technology stacks, programming languages, cloud environments, and customer requirements.

• Experience applying AI and agentic principles to develop software products and enhance engineering outcomes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Familiarity with deploying cloud resources via Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Experience leading technical discovery sessions and converting vague business objectives into technical roadmaps.

• Background in integrating AI systems with enterprise IT infrastructure, authenticated APIs, legacy data systems, and corporate security perimeters.

• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to client locations.

• Proficiency in AI for enhancing productivity.

• Exceptional communication, leadership, and client engagement skills.

• Fluency in English.

• Applicants must reside in Québec, Ontario, or British Columbia.

• Nice-to-have: Master’s degree or PhD in AI, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.

• Nice-to-have experience with advanced agentic AI systems, MCP servers, operational excellence for AI platforms, production AI applications, enterprise AI architecture, human-centered AI design, large-scale AI transformation, modern application architecture, API development, cloud-native design, and distributed systems.

• Nice-to-have cloud platform or AI certifications, including Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Anthropic Claude, Gemini Enterprise, or other recognized AI platform certifications.
