This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Report directly to the Worker’s Compensation Manager.
• Supervise intricate, long-term workers’ compensation claims.
• Evaluate obstacles to effective return to work and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Develop strategies and facilitate or create alternative return-to-work plans.
• Conduct meetings with clients to discuss internal workplace injury concerns.
• Manage workplace injury claims, aiming to reduce time-loss and claim expenses through early intervention and proactive service coordination.
• Maintain consistent and transparent communication with clients, injured workers, and provincial Workers’ Compensation Boards.
• Act as a liaison with provincial Workers’ Compensation Boards.
• Review claim files thoroughly.
• Interpret provincial workers’ compensation legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Submit injury reports, identify appeal matters, and draft letters of objection.
• Coordinate case management activities, which include developing, implementing, and monitoring return-to-work and rehabilitation strategies.
• Facilitate third-party interventions, such as functional capacity evaluations and independent medical assessments.
• At least 5 years of experience in managing workers’ compensation claims.
• Familiarity with Provincial Worker Compensation Boards and understanding of workers’ compensation laws, policies, and procedures.
• Proven experience in leading and training team members to meet deadlines and deliver performance feedback.
• Expertise in the subject matter along with supervisory experience.
• Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Educational background in a related field such as human resources, health and safety, or an insurance certificate-designation; significant consideration will be given to candidates with claims management experience in lieu of these qualifications.
• A paralegal license is preferred.
• Must possess work authorization in Canada that does not necessitate current or future visa sponsorship.
