This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.
• Oversee a substantial inventory of intricate workers’ compensation claims while assessing compensability and liability.
• Conduct thorough investigations of claims to verify coverage and ascertain liability, compensability, and damages.
• Evaluate and negotiate claim settlements and reserves within designated authority.
• Participate in arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.
• Communicate complex coverage and settlement details to insureds, claimants, and external partners.
• Approve payments within assigned authority limits and ensure prompt disbursement.
• Maintain precise and detailed claim files, correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.
• Possibly mentor staff and engage in talent selection, development, and performance management decisions.
• Execute other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 13 years of experience in handling property and casualty claims.
• Completion of or ongoing progress towards a professional designation such as Associate in Claims (AIC) is preferred.
• Experience with California workers’ compensation is preferred.
• Capacity to operate at the highest authority limits on assignments with the utmost technical complexity and coordination.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• In-depth understanding of insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures.
• Familiarity with industry laws and regulations.
• Advanced skills in organizing and prioritizing caseloads for timely claim resolution.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to establish relationships and lead negotiations.
• Capability to manage confidential information with discretion.
• Subject matter expertise within the company, potentially functioning at a peer level to management.
• Must have authorization to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship.
