Claims Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Oversee lower-level, straightforward, and non-problematic workers’ compensation claims within assigned limited authority.

• Operate under the direct guidance of a senior claims professional.

• Receive workers’ compensation claims, verify policy coverage, and acknowledge claims.

• Assess the validity and compensability of claims.

• Set reserves and authorize payments within the limits of reserving authority.

• Manage uncomplicated lost-time workers’ compensation claims with close supervision.

• Communicate the status of claims to customers, claimants, and clients.

• Follow client and carrier guidelines diligently.

• Participate in claims reviews as necessary.

• Support other claims professionals with complex or challenging claims.

• Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.

• At least 1 year of experience in the industry.

• Preferred prior experience in claims management.

• Must maintain a current license or certification in Workers’ Compensation throughout employment with CorVel.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Quick learning capability to acquire knowledge and understanding of claims practices.

• Proficient in identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues.

• Strong computer skills and technical aptitude, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets.

• Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.

• Ability to meet or exceed performance expectations.

• Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
