Senior Underwriting Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Offer underwriting assistance, advice, and authorization to company staff, agents, and clients regarding real estate title insurance commitments and policies.

• Utilize underwriting standards and guidelines within assigned authority limits to underwrite the issuance of title insurance.

• Provide direction on real estate settlement services.

• Establish underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with company procedures.

• Relay underwriting and real estate settlement services information to the team.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (Law Degree) is mandatory.

• Must be licensed to practice law in the state of employment.

• Must maintain good standing as a licensed attorney.

• 8 to 10 years of experience in title underwriting is required.

• Experience in Virginia title underwriting is necessary.

• Knowledge of real estate law is essential.

• Comprehensive understanding of real estate title and settlement procedures.

• Familiarity with Federal and State regulations regarding real estate title insurance and settlement services.

• Proficient in underwriting real estate transactions for title insurance policies.

• Capability to collaborate effectively and make prompt decisions.

• Strong attention to detail is a must.

• Exceptional listening, verbal, and written communication abilities.

• Robust organizational skills, including the ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow up in a timely manner.

• Excellent negotiation skills.

• Ability to think abstractly and solve problems creatively.

• Capacity to address complex issues with innovative and sound decisions.
