This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Draft, negotiate, and execute significant enterprise and partnership agreements across all business sectors.
• Spearhead negotiations with retailers and strategic partners, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders to successfully close deals.
• Offer strategic legal counsel to internal business clients, providing recommendations for approval, conditional approval, decline, or escalation.
• Lead specialized legal and cross-functional initiatives from inception to completion.
• Establish best practices for the integration of AI into legal processes.
• Oversee and interpret advertising, competition, intellectual property, consumer protection, gig economy, international, and privacy laws and regulations, translating them into actionable compliance guidance.
• Prepare terms, policies, and disclosures while developing supporting procedures.
• Counsel internal clients regarding executed agreements.
• Create and revise standard legal agreements and playbooks.
• Educate clients and colleagues on legal matters.
• Anticipate impending legal challenges and assist the business in preparation.
• A Juris Doctor degree from a prestigious law school and admission to at least one state bar (preferably California).
• At least 6 years of relevant experience at a leading law firm or within an in-house legal department.
• Extensive experience with legal issues pertinent to the Internet and e-commerce sectors, notably in privacy, SaaS, and payments.
• Proven track record in managing strategic partner negotiations and contract drafting from beginning to end.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to guide teams towards achieving objectives.
• Sound and practical business acumen with the capability to handle multiple high-priority and competing tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in providing clear and concise legal advice while collaborating cross-functionally to achieve results.
• A collaborative team-oriented mindset.
• In-house experience, particularly within a technology company or retail environment (preferred).
• Familiarity with alcohol law, international law, and/or privacy and data security regulations, including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA (preferred).
• Experience in AI governance and implementing privacy-by-design in machine learning/AI product development (preferred).
• Background in AdTech (preferred).
