Senior Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the internal legal subject matter expert and collaborate with the executive team on both product legal strategy and its execution.

• Provide guidance on privacy, data management, AI, compliance, commercial agreements, customer security requirements, and scalable legal support.

• Create effective, repeatable systems to address privacy inquiries, especially concerning Subscriber Signals.

• Acquire in-depth knowledge of Kit, SparkLoop, Subscriber Signals, and the interconnected ecosystem of products and tools.

• Report to the Chief Operating Officer while collaborating with leaders in product, sales, finance, and people operations.

• Manage core legal functions in-house and identify when specialized external counsel is necessary.

• Evaluate legal risks, opportunities, ambiguities, and recurring tasks during the onboarding process.

• Oversee initiatives related to data processing, privacy, AI, and other legal matters.

• Develop scalable systems for privacy support intake, guidance, and escalation.

• Manage GDPR and data compliance assessments.

• Create procedures for addressing customer security questionnaires.

• Develop playbooks, templates, intake procedures, and self-service resources for recurring queries related to privacy, data usage, and compliance.

• Collaborate throughout the product lifecycle on various initiatives and feature launches.

• Prioritize legal risks, minimize dependence on external counsel, and enhance legal workflows.

• Enhance Kit’s legal maturity in areas such as privacy, compliance, product counsel, commercial contracts, and security support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive expertise in data management, compliance, and product matters.

• Strong capability to navigate U.S. and European data privacy regulations, including GDPR and CCPA.

• Knowledge of the distinctions between data controllers and processors.

• Ability to convert privacy and compliance requirements into scalable playbooks, templates, intake procedures, and self-service resources.

• Experience in supporting customer security questionnaires.

• Proven history of collaboration with security, sales, product, and engineering teams.

• Familiarity with SOC 2 Type II and its legal, privacy, and customer requirements.

• Understanding of intellectual property law as it pertains to branding, content, and software.

• Knowledge of commercial contract principles.

• Experience as in-house counsel at a technology company or working with a tech portfolio at a prestigious startup-focused firm.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school in the United States.

• Active membership in good standing with a State Bar Association.
