This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Translate documents related to medical, pharmaceutical, administrative, commercial, advertising, and media fields from English into French.
• Maintain the integrity, meaning, and intent of source texts, which may include complex scientific and high-visibility documents.
• Review French translations produced both internally and externally for consistency in terminology and wording.
• Organize, prioritize, and oversee translation and revision requests.
• Offer expert guidance to internal clients and team members.
• Collaborate with clients and colleagues on translations specific to specialized fields.
• Develop and enhance glossaries, lexicons, and style guides in partnership with colleagues.
• Engage in the management of computer-assisted translation tools and monitor advancements in the field.
• Coordinate with translation service providers and key internal clients.
• Advocate for the use of French within the organization, including initiatives like Francofête.
• Contribute to tasks associated with AbbVie Canada’s francization commitments.
• Prepare and oversee Linguistic Services operational and coordination documentation.
• Represent AbbVie Canada’s interests in collaboration with AbbVie teams globally.
• Maximize resource utilization, suggest effective business solutions, and foster innovation and change.
• Support Linguistic Services team members in departmental planning activities.
• Share expertise with fellow Linguistic Services team members.
• Bachelor’s degree (BA) in English-to-French translation or an equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of ten years of experience in English-to-French translation.
• At least five years of experience in comparative English-to-French revision.
• Experience in translating, updating, and revising product monographs for pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
• Relevant experience along with a solid understanding of the health or life sciences sector.
• Advanced proficiency in French.
• Strong understanding and fluency in English.
• Exceptional writing skills and a flawless style.
• In-depth knowledge of industry-specific terminology and phraseology.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
• Capability to perform under pressure and manage multiple projects at once.
• Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines.
• Comfort with technology and everyday tools/systems.
• Competence in engaging and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience working within a multinational corporation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Professional certification (OTTIAQ, ATIO, or equivalent) is a plus.
• Familiarity with LogiTerm is an asset.
