Senior Translator-Reviewer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Translate texts related to medical, pharmaceutical, administrative, commercial, advertising, and media fields from English into French.

• Review a variety of texts, mainly in French.

• Maintain the integrity, meaning, and intention of the original texts.

• Translate and review diverse documents, including complex scientific and high-profile materials.

• Evaluate translations from both internal and external vendors to ensure consistency and correct terminology.

• Collaborate in the planning, prioritization, and management of translation and review requests.

• Provide guidance to internal clients and colleagues to enhance translated materials.

• Consult with clients and colleagues to translate content in specialized areas.

• Create and uphold glossaries, lexicons, and editorial standards.

• Work together on managing computer-assisted translation tools and keep up with innovations.

• Act as a liaison with translation service providers and key internal clients.

• Initiate projects that encourage the use of French, including events during Francofête.

• Engage in activities related to the company's obligations for French-language compliance.

• Collaborate in drafting and managing management and operational documents for Language Services.

• Represent AbbVie Canada’s interests within AbbVie’s global organizations.

• Work together to optimize resource utilization.

• Suggest practical solutions to business challenges.

• Support change and innovation across the company’s strategic functions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) in English-to-French translation or equivalent qualification.

• Relevant experience with a robust understanding of the health or life sciences sector; experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry is advantageous.

• At least 10 years of experience translating from English into French.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in comparative English-to-French revision.

• Experience in translating, updating, and reviewing product monographs for drugs and medical devices.

• Professional certification (OTTIAQ, ATIO, or equivalent) is a plus.

• Outstanding attention to detail and a strong dedication to language quality and value.

• Strategic thinking and planning capabilities.

• Ability to forge strong partnerships with key stakeholders.

• Capacity to work under pressure and manage multiple projects concurrently.

• Ability to operate independently and meet deadlines.

• Excellent command of industry terminology and phrasing.

• Comfortable with technology and workplace tools and systems.

• Knowledge of LogiTerm is considered an advantage.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).

• Fluent in French, with a very strong command of English, excellent writing abilities, and impeccable style.
