Senior Trade Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Conduct independent research on Customs-related matters as requested by clients.

• Create project plans, timelines, and procedures for consulting engagements.

• Provide training to clients on import and export regulations.

• Utilize independent judgment during interactions with customers.

• Collaborate with both internal and external resources to ensure timely project completion that meets client expectations.

• Investigate, interpret, and apply government import and export regulations to specific client scenarios.

• Formulate solutions for complex import and export challenges and suggest appropriate actions.

• Ensure that opinions align with U.S. Government regulatory standards for imports and exports.

• Analyze and interpret data received from clients and consultants.

• Conduct complex data analysis for goods across various industries.

• Communicate with government departments to address client issues and projects.

• Prioritize and execute tasks according to project requirements, customs regulations, and established standards.

• Identify and capitalize on sales opportunities.

• Keep abreast of Customs regulations, procedures, requirements, and other federal trade laws.

• Coordinate and present at public speaking events and seminars.

• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.

• Engage in cross-training for additional responsibilities.

• Execute other tasks as assigned by management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must have or be willing and able to obtain a Customs Broker’s License, which requires U.S. Citizenship.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in customs brokerage or auditing.

• Prior experience in classification.

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

• Familiarity with Microsoft Access.

• Consulting experience is preferred.

• A Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.

• Experience in trade compliance audits and risk assessments is preferred.

• Experience in developing Trade Compliance Programs, including compliance manuals, is preferred.

• Experience in implementing effective internal controls to meet regulatory requirements is preferred.

• Experience in establishing Trusted Trade programs, such as ISA, is preferred.

• Experience in analyzing and submitting Prior Disclosures is preferred.

• Experience with the Valuation Binding Ruling process and submissions is preferred.

• AD/CVD experience is preferred.

• Ability to perform predominantly sedentary office tasks involving keyboarding/computer work for 67%–100% of the workday.

• Ability to regularly use hands and fingers, communicate verbally, hear, walk occasionally, and perform close-vision focusing tasks.
