Senior Test Engineer Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee performance testing for intricate cloud-based systems, emphasizing scalability, resilience, and comprehensive performance analysis.

• Define and establish performance testing methodologies for cloud-native components and architectures, such as microservices, serverless functions, and containers.

• Assess and validate cloud elasticity, auto-scaling strategies, failover mechanisms, and self-healing capabilities during peak loads.

• Conduct in-depth root-cause analysis, including heap dumps, thread dumps, memory leak detection, and optimization of database queries.

• Set Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and Error Budgets in collaboration with product managers.

• Convert business and technical specifications into performance testing plans, outlining the testing scope, scenarios, and key metrics.

• Evaluate performance outcomes and system behavior to pinpoint bottlenecks, identify root causes, and suggest enhancements.

• Contribute to the development of performance practices and disseminate knowledge among fellow engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4–7 years of experience in software testing, test automation, performance testing, or performance engineering.

• Solid hands-on experience with performance testing, including the capability to initiate performance testing for a component from the ground up.

• Thorough understanding of system architecture and the impact of application, infrastructure, cloud, and network components on performance.

• Proficiency in performance analysis, including network latency optimization, caching methods, and database connection pooling.

• Background in capacity planning and cost-versus-performance analysis, with awareness of FinOps principles.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to investigate performance issues and uncover their root causes.

• Programming or scripting capabilities, preferably in Python or Scala.

• Practical experience with AWS or another leading cloud platform.

• Excellent technical communication and collaboration skills.

• Proficient in client and stakeholder management, with the ability to convert business and technical requirements into clear performance testing plans.

• Technical leadership experience and a track record of mentoring junior and/or intermediate engineers.

• Upper-Intermediate+ level of English proficiency.

• Desirable: experience with AWS CloudWatch Logs Insights, AWS X-Ray, Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling, Amazon Aurora/DynamoDB Performance Insights, or AWS Compute Optimizer.

• Desirable: familiarity with Distributed Gatling Enterprise, k6 Cloud, Gremlin/Chaos Mesh.

• Desirable: experience with OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Datadog APM, or Prometheus/Grafana.

• Desirable: relevant certifications or courses, such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer/Solutions Architect – Professional, SRE Fundamentals, or Advanced Cloud Systems Performance & Profiling.
