Senior Teradata Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and assist in the design of data architecture for the delivery of the enterprise data warehouse.

• Analyze source data, data flows, business requirements, and the needs of downstream consumption.

• Conduct detailed technical analysis, SQL investigations on Teradata, and validate solutions.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, domains, engineers, testers, delivery leads, and fellow architects to address queries and agree on solution directions.

• Evaluate design alternatives and recommend practical, scalable solutions that align with standards.

• Create and maintain High-Level Designs, Architecture Design Decisions, solution options, design rationale, assumptions, risks, and governance-ready documentation.

• Present designs and recommendations to Architecture Boards and governance forums to obtain alignment and approval.

• Integrate data governance, metadata, lineage, controls, reconciliation, auditability, privacy, and regulatory compliance into the design of solutions.

• Support frameworks driven by metadata for delivery.

• Assist delivery teams throughout the build, testing, implementation, and resolution of issues.

• Engage in approximately 50% hands-on work related to SQL investigation, detailed data analysis, solution validation, and delivery support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in data engineering and architecture.

• At least 5 years in data architecture, serving as a Data Architect or senior Data Engineering Lead with proven architecture ownership.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Teradata in an on-premises EDW environment.

• Proficiency in SQL querying, data investigation, issue analysis, and technical validation.

• Practical knowledge of the Teradata Financial Services Data Model or a similar financial services data model.

• Strong understanding of EDW design, data marts, data integration patterns, and large-scale data platform delivery.

• Experience in banking, financial services, or regulatory data environments.

• Familiarity with regulatory data requirements, including BCBS 239, RDARR, regulatory reporting, data traceability, auditability, and evidence-based control design.

• Excellent data analysis and data modeling capabilities.

• Demonstrated ability to produce governance-ready artifacts (HLDs, ADDs) and present them to Architecture Boards.

• Strong skills in stakeholder management, independent ownership, constructive challenge, and the capacity to drive decisions to resolution.

• Mandatory qualifications: Teradata (on-prem EDW), advanced SQL, Teradata FSDM or a comparable financial services data model, Inmon-style integrated EDW architecture, ETL delivery processes and tools, metadata-driven ingestion/transformation/control/reconciliation frameworks, and Control-M or similar batch scheduling and orchestration tools.

• Nice to have: Experience with the Teradata Global Control Framework (GCFR) or a similar control framework.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with Cloudera or comparable big data platforms.

• Nice to have: Knowledge of modern hybrid warehouse/lake architecture patterns.

• Nice to have: Experience in data observability, operational resilience, and production support.

• Nice to have: A broader hands-on background in data engineering.
