Architectural Historian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Navigate intricate federal, state, and local regulations to secure essential permits and clearances.

• Generate NHPA documentation while collaborating with federal agencies, Native American tribes, state agencies, SHPO, USACE, and USFWS.

• Coordinate archaeological surveys, test excavations, and the documentation of above-ground historic resources.

• Organize public meetings and workshops to engage stakeholders effectively.

• Provide tribal consultation assistance upon request from federal agencies.

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and urban planners.

• Manage projects from inception to completion, including timelines, budgets, deliverables, subconsultants, clients, and agencies.

• Mentor and train others while leading client and regulatory meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• A graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, history, architecture, historic preservation, or a closely related discipline.

• Qualification under the Secretary of the Interior (SOI) Professional Qualification Standards (36 CFR 61) as an Archaeologist or Architectural Historian.

• Hands-on experience in archaeological or historical research, cultural resource management, or compliance with historic preservation standards.

• Strong project management skills with an emphasis on oversight of historical and archaeological regulations.

• Proficient in articulating findings and producing high-quality written materials, such as reports, memos, and documentation.

• Excellent communication abilities.

• Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team.

• Self-motivated and reliable, demonstrating strong follow-through on deadlines and deliverables.
