Senior Cloudera Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the comprehensive solution architecture for large-scale distributed data, streaming, and data integration solutions.

• Serve as the principal architect for Data Solutions involving distributed data, integration, and platforms.

• Offer architectural guidance, governance, design assurance, and technical leadership across various initiatives.

• Define the target architecture and ensure it aligns with the enterprise technology strategy, engineering standards, and long-term platform goals.

• Lead the solution architecture for the Enterprise Data Lake, Operational Datastore, and related data platform services within the Cloudera CDP environment on AWS.

• Design and document scalable solutions for distributed data and streaming across Cloudera, Kafka, API, and cloud platforms.

• Establish ingestion, processing, storage, and consumption patterns.

• Provide architectural oversight throughout the solution delivery process.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure solutions are deliverable, scalable, secure, supportable, and in line with enterprise architecture principles.

• Review technical designs generated by engineering teams.

• Identify technical risks, dependencies, assumptions, non-functional requirements, and design trade-offs.

• Assist in delivery planning by breaking down solutions into iterative delivery increments and sprint-level outcomes.

• Present solution designs at architecture review boards and governance forums.

• Engage with business stakeholders, delivery teams, and enterprise architects.

• Create and advocate for architectural patterns, engineering standards, and best practices across the data platform ecosystem.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of overall IT experience, with significant expertise in data platform, integration, or distributed systems delivery.

• Proven experience in architecting streaming or real-time data applications utilizing Kafka or equivalent event-streaming technologies.

• Familiarity with Kafka consumer architecture, including consumer groups, offsets, retries, dead-letter handling, ordering, partitioning, and scalability.

• Demonstrated experience in designing solutions on Cloudera CDH/CDP, or substantial experience with comparable enterprise-scale distributed data platforms.

• Experience in designing and delivering large-scale data ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption patterns.

• Strong understanding of batch and real-time data processing architectures.

• Experience navigating complex enterprise environments with multiple systems, vendors, platforms, and governance processes.

• Deep understanding of non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, resilience, security, observability, and operational support.

• Experience providing architectural leadership across multiple workstreams, programs, or delivery teams.

• Experience mentoring architects, senior engineers, or technical leads and influencing technical decision-making.

• Knowledge of distributed data platforms and data lake architecture on Cloudera CDH/CDP or equivalent platforms.

• Familiarity with event streaming and real-time integration technologies, including Kafka and related messaging patterns.

• Experience with large-scale data processing and transformation frameworks such as Spark, Flink, Hive, Impala, or equivalent technologies.

• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and REST services.

• Experience with NoSQL and distributed data storage technologies like HBase, Cassandra, or equivalent platforms.

• Familiarity with cloud services, preferably AWS.

• Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and resilience.
