This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take charge of the roadmap for Payset's essential payment infrastructure, encompassing priorities, trade-offs, and sequencing.
• Convert intricate technical and regulatory requirements into practical product specifications.
• Lead the delivery efforts across the core backend team, from initial discovery and scoping to release and iteration.
• Work in collaboration with compliance, risk, and legal teams to ensure adherence to regulatory standards in various jurisdictions.
• Cultivate relationships with payment schemes, banking partners, and third-party infrastructure providers.
• Define and monitor product metrics such as system reliability, transaction success rates, processing latency, and payment volumes.
• Recognize technical debt and infrastructure shortcomings that pose product risks and advocate for their resolution.
• Serve as a liaison between engineering and business stakeholders by outlining product direction and effectively communicating the developments and their purposes.
• Direct product experience with payment rails, settlement flows, card issuing/acquiring, or SEPA/SWIFT integrations.
• Capability to elucidate end-to-end payment movements, involved systems, and potential failure modes.
• Technical credibility to engage with engineers on architectural decisions and challenge technical assumptions.
• Proficiency in writing clear product specifications that require minimal interpretation.
• An engineering or similarly technical background is a significant advantage.
• Practical knowledge of AML/KYC requirements, SEPA regulations, PSD2, or comparable regulatory frameworks.
• Take ownership of product decisions, including defining the what and why.
• A minimum of 6 years of product management experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in a fintech or payments infrastructure environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Experience with crypto/blockchain payment infrastructure or digital asset platforms is a considerable advantage.
• Hands-on familiarity with SEPA Instant, SWIFT GPI, or direct scheme connectivity is a considerable advantage.
• Experience working in or with regulated EMIs, banks, or payment institutions is a considerable advantage.
• Previous work with multi-currency accounts, FX products, or cross-border payment flows is a considerable advantage.
• A background in startups or scale-ups is a significant advantage.
