Senior Technical Practitioner – Financial Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with senior engineering and technology leaders to address intricate and ambiguous technical challenges.

• Define and evaluate architecture for robust, scalable, secure, and dependable financial systems.

• Design and enhance production-critical systems related to payments, transaction processing, banking infrastructure, ledgers, or similar financial platforms.

• Analyze complex technical problems and pinpoint underlying risks and opportunities.

• Question technical assumptions and offer clear, actionable recommendations.

• Participate in architecture and code reviews alongside seasoned engineers.

• Lead initiatives from problem identification to solution implementation without the need for detailed task breakdowns or constant oversight.

• Establish best engineering practices focusing on reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence.

• Share knowledge and mentor skilled engineers through collaborative efforts and technical discussions.

• Evaluate and address ambiguous challenges in architecture, systems design, AWS, and senior-level cooperation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of pertinent software engineering experience.

• Experience in roles such as Staff, Principal, Architect, or equivalent senior individual contributor level.

• Proven track record of designing, building, and managing complex production systems.

• Extensive experience in financial services, including banking systems, payments infrastructure, transaction processing, ledgers, and regulated financial systems.

• Strong AWS proficiency, especially in complex production settings.

• Practical experience with reliability, resilience, security, observability, infrastructure architecture, and managing production workloads in regulated environments.

• Capability to independently define problems, conduct thorough investigations, identify risks, and implement solutions.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly with highly skilled technical peers.

• Openness to constructively question existing technical decisions.

• Ability to transfer knowledge and elevate the technical capabilities of the broader engineering team.

• Experience with cross-border payments, international remittances, multi-currency systems, digital banking or fintech platforms, financial ledgers, and scalable payment processing within regulated financial services is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as ADGM, DFSA, FCA, EU equivalents, or similar jurisdictions is highly advantageous.

• Significant overlap with Dubai / Gulf Standard Time (UTC+4) is required.
