Senior Technical Operations Engineer – Email, Mautic, Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Take charge of and expand the infrastructure supporting Metricool's product email system.

• Enhance server performance, manage extensive MySQL databases, and optimize RabbitMQ queues associated with the Mautic instance.

• Refine Mautic processes, including segment synchronization, campaign management, job scheduling, and cron job handling.

• Oversee email sends, queues, and server performance; identify and resolve issues proactively to prevent campaign disruptions.

• Scale the platform to handle approximately 3 million email dispatches daily without service outages.

• Ensure email deliverability by managing SPF, DKIM, DMARC, bounces, and complaints.

• Address and prioritize Marketing and Product requests as well as bug reports via Slack.

• Respond to incidents during email dispatches with backup support available, without formal on-call duties.

• Maintain and enhance Mautic's custom PHP/Symfony code, utilizing AI tools for assistance.

• Document system architecture, runbooks, and resolution strategies.

• Contribute to the data platform and attribution efforts, including ClickHouse, Python export pipelines, Go services, and Aerospike.

• Collaborate with teams in Marketing, Product, Data, and Revenue to implement lasting solutions.

• Work alongside Borja, the technical lead, fostering a feedback-oriented and service-focused environment.

• Engage in Black Friday email dispatch processes and prepare to assume full ownership in the following year.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must be based in Spain.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in systems, infrastructure, or technical operations is required.

• In-depth technical support knowledge at a senior level, encompassing servers, Linux, DNS, infrastructure, networking, email delivery, domain reputation, and security.

• Demonstrated experience in administering and optimizing MySQL databases under heavy workloads.

• Proficiency in English is mandatory (minimum B2 level).

• Spanish language skills are highly preferred.

• Experience in PHP; familiarity with Symfony is a significant advantage.

• Valuable experience with AWS, particularly EC2 and SES.

• Experience in managing email-sending infrastructure is highly beneficial.

• Bonus skills that are not required from day one include Mautic, RabbitMQ, Aerospike, ClickHouse, data pipelines, Go, and AI tools for code maintenance and writing.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a service-oriented mindset.

• Capability to comprehend the needs of non-technical teams and communicate effectively.

• Ability to remain calm and inquisitive under a high volume of requests.

• A genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for understanding how the Internet functions, supported by solid practical knowledge.
